EXCITING YARNS: Art Yarns have arrived in an abundant bundle of colors and textures. We ordered some gorgeous colors in four different ‘put-ups’: Silk Rhapsody is a combination of silk and mohair, 270 yds to the skein; Silk Rhapsody Glitter is an addition of a very fine thread of glitter, same yardage; Beaded Silk does not have the mohair but is beaded with tiny glass beads, 110 yds; Mohair Glitter is just the mohair with the glitter 315 yds, great to add to another color for warmth and charm. (I’m making a capelet in a feather/fan pattern and adding the Mohair Glitter to the body.) Words do not describe the beauty of these yarns.

Plymouth’s Llama Cotton is a 30/70% llama/cotton blend…oh, so soft, with 109 yards. We also have Plymouth Tweed 100% virgin lambswool with 109 yds, 4 sts = 1” on #8. Beautiful colors in both.

Tahki’s Nova is a cotton/acrylic blend with its own little glitter imbedded in the yarn, gorgeous colors with 125 yds and 4.75 = 1” on #6. Summer sweaters made with Nova are sure to get compliments. Another new yarn from Tahki is Nepal, with 98 yds and 4.75 = 1” #5 - Nepal is 100% organic cotton and soft as … hmmm, cotton?

We have new colors in Silk Garden and Kureyon along with the Silk Garden sock yarn. I can see the sock yarn in so many things other than socks, lightweight Summer shawls are the first to come to mind, perhaps knitted with some Mohair Glitter?

Mountain Colors have a couple of new yarns that just blew me away. Winter Lace is a gorgeous lace weight 50/50% wool/silk blend with 1200 yds to the skein, 5-6 sts = 1” #4-5 - just breathtaking. Silk n Ewe is a 50/50% wool/raw silk blend with 250 yds and 5-6 sts = 1” #4-5, with brilliant color depth; both are very reasonably priced.

Wild Silk is a hand-dyed yarn from an artist in Canada and is flying off the shelves due to the gorgeous colors she uses. The yardage is 315 yds, 4.5 sts = 1” on #4-6.

SOCKS ARE HOT!

We are carrying some of the hottest sock yarn you’ve ever seen. And to show off those hand knitted socks, we now have clear clogs! Get ’em while we have your size. So, you’re not a sock knitter…there are a multitude of garments that can be knitted using these beautiful sock yarns. I’m anxious to knit a lightweight Summer shawl from the Noro Silk Garden sock yarn, and sweaters from this yarn are simply yummy…check the Noro pattern books. New sock yarn has also arrived from Berroco, Dark Horse, and Universal.

Hand Dyed yarns from Donna
HAND DYED YARNS are hanging in front of the sale area. The merino wool is superwash and very desirable for sock knitting on #1, #2, or #3 needle. Come see the variety of hand dyed fibers. We have even dyed some knitted blanks from Plymouth in their Happy Feet yarn of fine merino wool and nylon for sock knitting. Just take out the provisional cast on and knit directly from the blank. The blank can be used as a scarf if you don’t knit it for socks. If you’d like to learn how to dye yarns, check below under Classes.

You can find yarns that we carry, or can get for you, at the following websites. If we don’t have it on the shelf, we will gladly order for you. New yarns are arriving almost daily. We also subscribe to a Skeins List , which gives us an opportunity to find discontinued and out of date yarns as well. If it can be found, we’ll find it - and for you who live out of town, we will gladly send it to you.
