July Newsletter, Sumer is here!

Hello Fiberlovers!

Ahh, Summer! What a relief from the cold of Winter. So, what’s on your needles these days? Are you knitting for holiday gifts? Practicing a new pattern? Whatever you are working on, why not come and join us for social knitting. We gather every Tues and Sat from 10 til 2, and we have a chair for you. If you are allergic to a whole lot of laughing, you might want to skip it…!

Our Malabrigo Rio has arrived and is already selling well. The colors are beautiful in multi as well as solids. Rio is a worsted weight merino superwash.

We are going into our yarn dyeing mode for the month of July. See us in the class part of this newletter. Our sockyarn is the first to need more inventory, so we have 19 skeins to dye this week, and will have many more before we use up the dyes.

For the past few weeks, we have been hand printing silk, (vat dye discharge), our efforts really were rewarded. We are combining 2+ techniques and the results are so pretty. Don’t forget to look for them when you visit.

FYI: Peg is available for repairs on heirloom pieces, and finishing your knitting, ($15 per hour). She is also available for teaching knitting and crochet, ($35 for two hours). Just call and make an appointment. She also is a whiz with sock knitting, so if you’ve always wanted to knit socks, but are a little bit intimidated, she will help you through the process. Just call and make an appointment.

You will now find vintage Japanese fabrics that can be purchased in amounts from very small to full kimono lengths. In addition, we have kimono and obi that can be purchased whole. These garments are high quality. If you have an interest in Japanese kimono and obi fabrics, we just might have what you are looking for.

Don’t forget, our sale room is marked down to 30% ALWAYS…good bargains there!

See below for class times and dates.

JULY means yarn dyeing. Check and see when we are dyeing so you may enjoy watching, or, better yet, take the class and dye yarns for yourself. Fee is $50 and purchase of your yarns (discounted for the class). It’s so much fun.

If you are interested in learning any of the following:
Silk Painting
Silk Dyeing
Shibori Dyeing
Yarn Dyeing,
I will structure a class for a minimum of three (in some cases, a maximum of three), for one, two, or three-day classes. Let’s talk about what you’d like to learn. This is also a good opportunity to have some educational fun with family members visiting you. Family classes are so much fun!

Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10 to 2. This is a social knit, with lots of
laughter. Come in and meet some very talented knitters who enjoy each
others company and seeing the work of our hands. Yarn purchases are
discounted on the days you knit with us. We are a very “relaxed” shop.

You can find yarns that we carry, or can get for you, at the following
websites. If we don’t have it on the shelf, we will gladly order for you.
We also subscribe to a Skeins List, which gives us an opportunity to find
discontinued and out of date yarns as well. If it can be found, we’ll find it
– and for you who live out of town, we will gladly send it to you.
