Spring will be here soon….right? RIGHT?? You wouldn’t know we are already passed the solstice. Oh well, it is what it is and we have to make the most of it. Personally: I finished the Blue Kimono and delivered it to my very happy recipient. It was, without exception, the most pleasant thing I have ever knitted. The yarn was right (alpaca) and the color was lovely (sky blue), and I had Peggy at my side to help me out of a few problems, AND she did the finishing. She makes such beautiful seams in all the finishing she does. My current project is to finished the cardigan I’m knitting with Universal’s Shades. Gorgeous Colors!
Our week at JC Campbell was marvelous, small class of six but they were dedicated to learning the technique of silk painting. I have a class coming up, so if you’ve ever wanted to learn the joy of color into silk, give us a call for time and date, and sign up. It will probably be the 14th or 28th.
We have received our BIG order from Cascade and these yarns are spectacular. The new yarns are jumping off the shelf, and lots of the more ‘seasoned’ ones are selling at 30% off. Our little sales corner is FULL, come see if you can find something that would be just what you need, for a price that will surprise you. Speaking of sales, our hand dyed garments (t shirts, dresses, baby socks, etc) as well as knitted garments and scarves, are all discounted at 25%. This does not apply to silk scarves.
We have a table of yarns ready to be dyed, if we can just get a warm day without all this wind. I’m hoping it will be this week as “sunny and warm” are some words that the weather people are throwing about.
FYI: The Yarn Crawl will be held Thursday May 8 through Sunday May 11. At this point in time, we are 11 shops participating in this ‘crawl’ and it covers at least 5 counties, maybe more. We will have baskets of yarn for lucky raffle winners and a large prize at the end of the ‘crawl’. We will keep you informed.
We have patterns galore, in fact a full room of them, with chairs and tables. Come spend some time looking through the patterns and get inspired. Find something new to knit; we are happy to help you find the right yarn for a new project, and perhaps you can find some hand dyed yarn that will be perfect. New yarns are arriving each day…come see the latest. We also have a sweater program that can print out a sweater pattern using your measurements and desires.
You will now find vintage Japanese fabrics that can be purchased in amounts from very small to full kimono lengths. In addition, we have kimono and obi that can be purchased whole. These garments are high quality. If you have an interest in Japanese kimono and obi fabrics, we just might have what you are looking for.
Don’t forget, our sale room is marked down to 30% ALWAYS…good bargains there!
See below for class times and dates.
